WorkSafeBC recently fined two construction companies in the Peace Region for high-risk safety violations.
Contracting Celtic Construction LTD. was hit with a $29,500 fine regarding a residential project in Moberly Lake. Inspectors found several issues, most notably a set of unsafe temporary stairs—the building's only entry point—and the absence of a required first-aid attendant on-site.
In Dawson Creek, Raptor Mountain Roofing received a $5,000 fine after three employees were spotted working on a sloped roof without being connected to their fall-protection lifelines. Because the fall risk exceeded three metres, the agency classified the incident as a repeated, high-risk violation.
