Fuel price rising without end in sight

The cost of fueling your vehicle continues to rise around the world.

Prices in Fort St. John are on the increase, with some stations hitting 170.9 cents per litre while others hold slightly lower at $1.68, according to GasBuddy. Diesel is seeing an even sharper spike, ranging from $2.08 to $2.10 per litre.

This local jump reflects a tightening global market. West Texas Intermediate is now at $99.52 USD, and Western Canadian Select has risen to roughly $83.

The primary driver is instability in the Strait of Hormuz. The U.S. initiated conflict involving Iran has disrupted this vital shipping route—which handles 20% of the world’s oil—leading to supply shortages and higher costs for consumers. Analysts expect this volatility to continue as long as Middle East tensions remain high.
