Two Fort St. John construction companies have received fines from WorkSafeBC for high-risk violations.

GTX Cavation Ltd. has received a fine of over $4,600.

WorkSafeBC said the firm failed to follow instructions on a worksite inside an excavation.

The company didn’t install trench safety equipment, including benching and a shoring box.

It also allowed workers to enter an excavation without ensuring it was properly sloped benched or supported.

WorkSafeBC has also issued a fine of $2,500 to Bryan Roger Ducharme.

The framing company was working on a residential complex when it failed to provide adequate fall protection for its workers.

The workers were exposed to fall risks of more than 12 feet.

WorkSafeBC said the high-risk violations were observed on two separate occasions.
