Due to the ongoing cold stretch in Northeast BC, buses were cancelled all day Friday in School District 60 and 81.
School District 60 said on social media that buses were cancelled “due to cold weather and road conditions.”
In School District 81, no crossing guards were on duty Friday. The district asked drivers to be extra cautious in school zones and at crosswalks due to the change.
Despite the extreme conditions, schools remained open in both districts.
Environment Canada issued cold warnings in both regions, saying wind chill made it feel like -40 in Fort St. John and -45 in Fort Nelson throughout the day.
