Police have shared more details about a fatal crash between two semi-trucks on the Alaska Highway that killed both drivers.

A 74-year-old man and a 21-year-old man, both from Alberta, died in the head-on collision, though their names have not been released.

The crash happened Monday afternoon north of Pink Mountain.

One driver died at the scene, while the other passed away later from his injuries. A passenger was taken to North Peace Airport and then airlifted to a Vancouver hospital, with no update on his condition.

The accident shut down the highway for most of Monday and kept it closed overnight.

Mounties say poor road conditions, blowing snow, and low visibility were major factors, and they’re advising against any unnecessary travel between Fort St. John and Fort Nelson.
