On Saturday, November 1st, at 6 p.m., Fort Smith RCMP, alongside Fort Smith Fire and Emergency Medical Services, responded to a single-vehicle collision on Highway 5, near King Street.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a 2015 Chevrolet Camaro in the ditch. A 43-year-old male, believed to be the driver, appeared to have been ejected from the vehicle and was found nearby with life-threatening injuries. He was transported to the local health center and later transferred to Edmonton for further treatment.

RCMP began investigating the incident and suspect alcohol was a factor. Witnesses reported seeing a 14-year-old male, believed to be a passenger, leaving the scene on foot.

Efforts to locate the youth, involving G Division Police Dog Services and Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems, have been unsuccessful. The youth is described as slender, around 5’5” (1.68 m), with sandy blond hair and a possible mark near his left eye.

He was last seen near Kaeser’s Stores on November 1st at 5:30 p.m., wearing a black hoodie and black track pants with red stripes down the sides.

The RCMP are concerned for the youth’s well-being, as he may require medical attention due to the crash. They are asking for public assistance in locating him or providing any information. Anyone with information is urged to contact Fort Smith RCMP at 867-872-1111 or Crimestoppers at https://p3tips.com.

Additionally, RCMP are seeking dashcam footage of the collision.
