Well known radio personality in northern B.C. announces he is "retiring" after more than 4 decades of service to both country and communities.

Ken Johnson began his career with the Canadian military communications branch in 1978. He served as a tactical radio operator for over 11 years when he found an opportunity to work as a radio announcer at Canadian Forces Network (CFN) in Lahr, Germany.

After a few years on the air in Europe, Ken returned to Canada and was in commercial radio in Lethbridge, High Prairie, Fort St. John and for the last 22+ years in Fort Nelson B.C.

Says Ken, "It has been my privilege and my honour to have served both country and communities over the many years and I'll continue to contribute to my community."

Ken is training his on-air replacement who already calls the Northern Rockies home. Jordan Laventure will become the new voice in Fort Nelson.

Ken's last day in his current role will be Sept 16, 2025. Moving forward, Ken will still be involved in a "station support" role as needed. He says he will continue to work with Jordan, the station, and community.

"I welcome Jordan to this wonderful opportunity in a great community. He is eager and I've noticed that he picks up on things quickly. I know the community will offer the same support to Jordan that since 2003, they have afforded me."
