A worker in northeast B.C. died last month following an incident at a gas plant.
Tourmaline Oil says it happened on Aug. 27 near its Aitken gas plant, over 120 kilometres northwest of Fort St. John, when a third-party contractor was killed during a routine water transfer.
The company, Canada’s largest natural gas producer, says RCMP and WorkSafeBC were notified immediately.
In a statement, Tourmaline emphasized safety as its top priority and said it’s working closely with WorkSafeBC on a full investigation.
This is the second fatality at a Tourmaline site, after a worker was killed at its Gundy gas plant in April 2025.
WorkSafeBC says it’s investigating the August incident to understand what went wrong and prevent future tragedies, but won’t release more details until the process is complete.
