Hudson’s Hope ER closed again due to chronic staffing shortage

Published on September 2, 2026 at 5:46 PM

The current diversion is scheduled to end at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 8.

Emergency services at the Hudson’s Hope Health Centre are expected to return next week following another temporary diversion affecting the community. The latest interruption is the most recent in a series of emergency department closures and diversions that have affected Hudson’s Hope throughout 2026.

Northern Health has previously attributed the service disruptions to staffing challenges.

During the diversion, residents requiring emergency medical care are advised to call 911 and seek treatment at the nearest available hospital.

Hudson’s Hope has experienced multiple emergency department service interruptions this year, raising ongoing concerns about access to emergency care in the community.

Northern Health has previously stated it continues efforts to recruit and retain health-care professionals in rural communities, including Hudson’s Hope.
