Motorcycle enthusiasts from across northeastern British Columbia are being invited to hit the road for a good cause next month.
The Northern Rockies Motorcycle Riders are preparing for their annual Toy Run in support of the Northern Rockies Family Development Society.
The annual event combines a passion for riding with community support, while helping ensure children in the Northern Rockies area receive gifts during the holiday season.
The event is scheduled for Sunday, September 13, with riders meeting at Boston Pizza in Fort Nelson at 11 a.m.
Organizer Ken Johnson says the ride will proceed weather permitting and encourages participants to dress appropriately for conditions.
The Toy Run aims to collect toys that will help support local children and families during the holiday season.
Riders are encouraged to bring one or two new toys strapped to their motorcycles before joining the ride.
Organizers are emphasizing that all riders and all types of motorcycles are welcome to take part in the community fundraiser.
For residents who do not ride but would still like to contribute, toy donations can be dropped off in advance at Pet Pa’s in Fort Nelson.
Proceeds and donations from the event will benefit local children through the Northern Rockies Child Development Society, an organization that supports children and families throughout the region.
Following the ride, participants will be treated to a free lunch provided by Boston Pizza.
