The emergency department at Hudson’s Hope Health Centre is closed due to staffing shortages.
Northern Health says the closure is temporary and based on staff availability.
The site is usually closed on weekends as part of its regular hours, with emergency services set to reopen Monday at 8:30 a.m.
Right now, the community is served by one part-time physician, while efforts continue to hire a second family doctor.
They’ve also recruited an International Medical Graduate who’s in the process of relocating and expected to arrive this summer.
Although today’s closure is temporary, the department has been on diversion for 44 of the past 91 days because of staffing challenges.
