A Dawson Creek man is making a lasting impact at the local fire station through simple acts of service and steady positivity.

Every Thursday, Jeff Schrock shows up to lend a hand around the hall.

He cleans, tidies, and helps keep things running smoothly for local firefighters.

“For all the firefighters, we look forward to when he comes. He’s part of the family,” Fire Chief Marcel Capelle said.

Schrock has been connected to the fire station since 1994, when he first began helping out while still in school.

More than 30 years later, that routine hasn’t changed and neither has his enthusiasm.

He says he still enjoys working alongside firefighters just as much as he did in the beginning.

Beyond the firehall, Schrock is a familiar face at community events, representing the station at parades and public celebrations, including the Christmas and Fall Fair parades.

His impact has also been recognized at City Hall, where his long-standing commitment has not gone unnoticed.

“It’s amazing to see someone give so many years of their life to supporting the fire service and the community,” Mayor Darcy Dober said.

Schrock is also known for keeping a lively soundtrack of classic hits from artists like Elvis Presley while he works, something colleagues say helps set a positive tone for the day.

For those who know him, his presence has become a constant and appreciated part of the team.
