The Sunderman Creek wildfire began on May 14 near Bear Hole Provincial Park,
The BC Wildfire Service reports that a wildfire burning south of Kelly Lake in northeast B.C. is now under control, bringing some relief to nearby communities.
The wildfire began on May 14 near Bear Hole Provincial Park, about 35 kilometres east of Tumbler Ridge, and has burned an estimated 182 hectares.
Drive BC says Highway 52 has reopened to single-lane, alternating traffic. A wildfire is considered “under control” when it’s not expected to spread beyond its current boundaries, though monitoring and suppression may still be needed.
Residents in the Northeast are reminded to stay updated on road conditions and wildfire activity as the season continues.
