Snowfall warning issued in South Peace as up to 40 cm could fall by Wednesday

Friday marks the first day of spring, but residents of the Peace Region have to endure more snowfall before spring-like temperatures arrive.

A snowfall warning for the South Peace Region was issued on Friday morning. Brian Proctor, a meteorologist for Environment Canada, says the snowfall was fairly intense south of Dawson Creek, especially near Tumbler Ridge.

In those areas,  10 to 15 centimetres is expected. In addition, the forecast calls for another five days with a chance of snowfall.

Proctor says the Peace Region could see between 20 and 40 centimetres of snow by the end of Wednesday.

He adds that an Arctic front is expected to move into the region early next week, potentially causing another period of intense snowfall.
