FORT NELSON, B.C. — Traditional Indigenous knowledge will blend with contemporary healthcare this weekend as Fort Nelson First Nation (FNFN) hosts its annual Health Fair.

The two‑day event, organized by FNFN’s health and wellness department, will take place on the Nation’s territory and features a full schedule shared on its Facebook page.

Attendees can expect information booths, a soup kitchen, and a variety of workshops covering strength training, medicine bag making, men’s health, wellness, and diabetes management.

Festivities begin on Saturday, March 21, with a community dinner followed by a stand‑up comedy performance from influencer Novalee Fox.

Fox, from Ochapowace Nation on Treaty 4 territory in southern Saskatchewan, rose to prominence in 2023 through her comedic and sobriety‑focused videos on TikTok, where she has 39,700 followers. In a YouTube interview, she shared that the loss of a close cousin motivated her to begin creating content. She later spoke with APTN in July 2025 about her commitment to sobriety and its connection to cultural healing.

“You have to be sober in order to connect with your ceremonial ways,” she said. “In the Indigenous way, it always reminds you that you have a connection out there… you are never alone.”

Fox will return on Sunday, March 22, as the event’s keynote speaker, addressing themes of healing, grief, addiction, and intergenerational trauma.

The Health Fair is free for community members and will run from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday at the Chalo School gymnasium, reopening Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

For more information, community members can contact FNFN’s health and wellness department at 250‑774‑2300.
