Investigators released the name and photo of the victim of a homicide in northern B.C. on Sunday, asking anyone with information about the case to come forward.
Mounties were first called to the Charlie Lake boat ramp near Fort St. John around 11 p.m. Friday, where “several people were involved in an altercation,” according to a police statement.
One person was seriously injured in the incident, and after friends took him to hospital he unfortunately succumbed to those injuries, police said.
The RCMP have now revealed the victim was 25-year-old Gurkirat Manocha.
“The North District Major Crimes Unit is urging anyone with information to come forward and speak with investigators,” Sgt. Devin Huff said, in the statement. “Investigators continue to work diligently to advance the investigation into Mr. Manocha’s death.”
Witnesses are asked to call the Fort St. John RCMP at 250‑787‑8140.
