Damaging winds possible over weekend...

Strong winds that may cause damage are expected early Saturday morning through early Sunday morning.

This warning is in place for the B.C. Peace River District & Fort Nelson - near Sikanni Chief.

A series of strong low pressure systems will impact the region from early Saturday morning through early Sunday morning.

The first system early Saturday morning will bring strong southwesterly winds with gusts of 70 to 90 km/h. Gusts will ease slightly to 50 to 70 km/h during the day Saturday.

A second system Saturday evening will strengthen the winds again, with gusts of 80 to 100 km/h. Communities south of Dawson Creek may experience gusts exceeding 100 km/h. Winds will ease early Sunday morning.

Local utility outages are possible. High-sided vehicles will be pushed around by the wind. Secure loose objects. Prepare for possible disruptions to transportation, services, and utilities. Wind warnings are issued when there is a significant risk of damaging winds.
