On Sunday, January 18, 2026, shortly after 1:00 am, Fort Nelson RCMP received a 9.1.1. call where it was reported that shots had been fired at a residence on Chalo Road, Fort Nelson First Nation.

Police immediately attended and spoke to a resident of the home. Police learned that there were four (4) shots, and that one shot hit the house.

Police searched the area where the shots were reported to have come from and found some shell casings in the area.

While on patrol, police found items that they believe may be connected to the person(s) responsible for the shots fired. Police recovered 2 x loaded shotguns, a dirt bike boot, a hat and headphones. If you recognize any of the items and know who they may belong to, you are asked to call the police.

Police made extensive patrols but could not locate the suspect(s). There were no reported injuries. Investigation to date suggests that those involved may be known to each other and police do not feel there to be any further risk to the general public.
