RCMP urge public to lock their vehicles while warming them up.
“The Fort St. John RCMP wish to remind the public that it is imperative that they lock their vehicles when not attended, especially while Fort St John is experiencing the continued cold,” police said.
The reminder comes after two vehicles were stolen in Fort St. John earlier this week.
In the early hours of December 31, a vehicle that had been running was stolen from a restaurant parking lot.
On the evening of December 30, an SUV was also stolen outside of a liquor store while it was warming up.
Police said thieves are always looking for easy targets. “Leaving a vehicle unlocked with keys in the ignition makes the vehicle a prime target for getting stolen,” they said.
RCMP wish all motorists a safe and secure winter driving season.
