A period of very cold wind chills is expected with wind chill values reaching minus 45 now through Friday morning.

Environment Canada's "Yellow Warning" will include Atlin, Cassiar Mountains, Watson Lake, Muncho Lake Park/Stone Mountain Park, & Fort Nelson.

An Arctic high will bring clear skies and very cold conditions. Light winds combined with these temperatures will result in wind chill values near minus 45 at times.

The extreme cold conditions are expected to persist into Friday morning. Extreme cold puts everyone at risk. Watch for cold related symptoms: shortness of breath, chest pain, muscle pain and weakness, numbness and colour change in fingers and toes. Cover up.

Frostbite can develop within minutes on exposed skin, especially with wind chill.
