Environment Canada is warning of an extreme arctic cold front which is moving into the Northern Rockies and into the Peace Country.
Daytime high temperatures are expected to be between -24 and -28 from Monday Dec 8 to Wednesday Dec 10 and will drop further into Thursday, Friday and the weekend where the prediction is -32 to -34 for daytime highs.
Overnight lows will near -38 to -40 in the later part of the week. Average daytime high temperatures in the Northern Rockies at this time of year range from -12.8°C (9°F) to -16.3°C (2.7°F). Cloudy skies and flurries are expected over the next 10 to 12 days.
A reminder that exposed skin will freeze within a couple of minutes in these temperatures.
