The Northern Rockies & The Peace Region were hit with the first major snowstorms of the season.

About 10 centimetres of snow fell on the region over the weekend, forcing most school buses in School Districts 59 and 60 to be cancelled on Monday.

Northern Rockies school buses and the Chalo school bus were running as usual this morning but school districts 59 & 60 buses were cancelled because of poor road conditions.

That followed light snow on Sunday, and a mix of snow and freezing rain Monday morning.

Environment Canada also issued a snowfall warning for the Pine Pass area along Highway 97, but it is no longer in effect.

The weather agency said no further precipitation is expected for the rest of the week.
