The second annual Michael Badine Memorial Floor Hockey Tournament, hosted by the Fort Nelson First Nation (FNFN), will be held later this month, with the winner claiming the Old Fort Cup.
Formerly called the Old Fort Tournament, last year’s event was the first since 2017 and paid tribute to FNFN’s Michael Badine, who passed away in 2023. A total of $1,750 in prize money is up for grabs—$1,000 for first place, $500 for second, and $250 for third—along with trophies for best sportsmanship, most valuable player, and top scorer.
Open to all skill levels for ages 10 and up, the tournament has been organized for the past two years by Miranda Dendys, FNFN’s justice manager.
Registration is $5, and a concession stand run by Chalo School’s graduating class will raise funds for their June convocation ceremonies. The action kicks off Saturday, November 29th, at Chalo School, 4021 Fontas Road, Fort Nelson.
