FORT NELSON, B.C. — The Fort Nelson emergency room was closed overnight for at least 11 hours.
Northern Health announced in a Facebook post at around 8 p.m. on November 8th that the ER at Fort Nelson General Hospital was shut due to “unexpected staffing challenges.”
The hospital reopened at about 7 a.m. on Sunday, November 9th.
Patients needing emergency care during this time were advised to call 911 for transportation to the nearest facility which is roughly a 4 hour drive to Fort St. John.
The ER in Chetwynd was temporarily closed and the Dawson Creek emergency room was shut for 10 hours all in the same week.
