The BC Centre for Disease Control's latest measles update shows a rise in cases in northeast BC.

Since last Thursday, 26 new cases have been confirmed in the region, bringing the total to 251.

Health officials report nine active cases in Northeast BC. Province-wide, the total count has reached 337.

Although only 1.3 percent of British Columbians live in Northeast BC, the region accounts for 75.6 percent of this year's measles cases, which health officials attribute to vaccine misinformation and hesitancy linked to COVID-19.
