Northern Rockies holds 29th Annual Community Excellence Awards...

On October 22, 2025, the 29th Annual Fort Nelson & District Chamber of Commerce Community Excellence Awards took place at the Phoenix Theatre in Fort Nelson, B.C., drawing an enthusiastic crowd.

Organizers expressed heartfelt gratitude to all sponsors, nominees, and attendees who dedicated part of their evening to celebrate the remarkable accomplishments within the community.

A highlight of the evening was the special recognition of Dr. Anthony and Mrs. Judith Kenyon (both 91 years old) for their decades of exceptional contributions. After over 60 years of dedicated service, the Kenyons recently moved to live with family. They were honored with the Freedom of the Municipality Award and the Key to the Community of Fort Nelson Award. Mayor Rob Fraser delivered a touching tribute to the couple, acknowledging their incredible legacy.

Eight awards recognizing excellence in community and business were presented during the event. The winners in each category were:

- Entrepreneur of the Year: A.G.E. Concrete & Construction Inc.

- Business of the Year: Northern Rockies Chiropractic & Wellness

- Customer Service Award (Company): City Furniture (Jas Kondola)

- Customer Service Award (Individual): Elsa Tubig (Airport Way Medical Clinic)

- Volunteer of the Year: Diane Legge

- Educator of the Year: Mark Lucas

- Community Leader of the Year: Dr. Anthony & Judith Kenyon

Bev Vandersteen, Executive Director of the Fort Nelson Chamber of Commerce, expressed her satisfaction with the turnout and extended her thanks to the board of directors and sponsors for making the event so memorable.
