Another murder has occurred in the South Peace Region, with a body discovered in a burnt-out vehicle near Farmington.
On Monday, Dawson Creek RCMP responded to a report of a burnt-out car on 251 Road, near the Kiskatinaw River. Upon arrival, they found a body inside the vehicle, though the identity and cause of death remain unclear.
The car was identified as a silver 2005 Mazda 6, possibly with Alberta license plates. Supt. Wijayakoon of the BC-RCMP stated, “All indications suggest this is a homicide, and police are seeking the public’s assistance. We want to speak to anyone who may have knowledge of this incident or has seen a grey 2005 Mazda 6.”
The North District Major Crime Unit is now handling the investigation. Mounties are looking to speak with anyone who may have noticed smoke in the area in the days leading up to October 13th.
Investigators are also requesting video footage from game cameras set up near the location of the burnt vehicle. Anyone with information is urged to contact the RCMP at 1-877-987-8477.
The body was found near Deadman’s Curve, the same area where Renee Didier’s remains were discovered in May 2024.
