Public service workers in BC are ramping up strike action, with 48 more work sites.

The BC Liquor Store in Tumbler Ridge joined the cause as of Tuesday night. This follows picket lines that appeared at BC Liquor and Cannabis Stores in Fort St. John on Monday.

On Tuesday, 2,600 union members joined picket lines across the province, bringing the total to 25,000 out of 34,000 BCGEU members now participating in job action.

Despite brief talks last week, no agreement was reached, as workers push for higher wages to cope with cost-of-living increases while the government seeks a fiscally sustainable deal. The B.C. deficit is projected to hit a record $11.6 billion, and Finance Minister Brenda Bailey emphasizes the need for fairness to both workers and taxpayers.

The BC Liquor Store in Dawson Creek has been under picket lines since last Friday.
