The Yukon Coroner's Office is investigating a fire that left two people dead and five injured at a remote gold mining camp on Friday morning.

The fire occurred at the Brewer Creek gold mine, 100 kilometers south of Dawson City, Yukon, and the camp is only accessible by helicopter or boat.

Two 20-year-old seasonal workers from British Columbia lost their lives, while five others were medevaced to the Dawson City Community Hospital for treatment.

The investigation, involving the Whitehorse Fire Marshal's Office, the Workers' Safety and Compensation Board, and Dawson City RCMP, is in its early stages, with suspicious causes ruled out.

The Yukon Coroner's Service expressed condolences to the victims' families, friends, and coworkers and thanked those assisting in the investigation.
