Police say the suspect was identified and arrested on Wednesday...
A 34-year-old man has been arrested and charged after what police call a violent home invasion and sexual assault in northeastern British Columbia.
According to Mounties in Fort St. John, the incident occurred late Tuesday when the man allegedly followed a woman to her home on 87 Street and entered the residence.
People inside managed to scare him off and contacted police, who searched but couldn’t locate the suspect.
The man then reportedly returned, sexually assaulted another resident, and fled the scene.
The man faces four charges, including sexual assault with a weapon, breaking into a home to commit a serious crime, uttering threats, and forcible confinement.
Police initially called the attack “very concerning,” fearing the suspect might reoffend while at large, but now say there’s no ongoing risk to the public following his arrest.
