Mounties in Fort Nelson are asking for the public’s help following a shooting on the Fort Nelson First Nation Reserve that left one person seriously injured. The Northern Rockies RCMP Detachment says officers began receiving reports of a fight near the 5000-block of Dene Etene Road at approximately 2:40 a.m. on Saturday.
When police arrived at the residence, investigators learned one person had been shot and had already been taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Police have arrested two suspects in connection with the incident, while a third suspect remains outstanding.
According to RCMP, the two individuals who were arrested have since been released back into the community under conditions and are expected to appear in court at a future date.
Investigators believe this to be a targeted event with no ongoing safety risk to the public,” said Corporal Jennifer Cooper, RCMP spokesperson for Northern B.C.
Police are asking anyone with information about the whereabouts of the remaining suspect, or anyone who may have video surveillance or dash camera footage related to the incident, to contact the Northern Rockies RCMP at 250-774-2700.
Police say the investigation remains ongoing.
