$1000 REWARD: Black Bear Remains Dumped
FORT NELSON - A black bear who was killed and dumped has prompted a wildlife charity to issue a $1,000 reward for information that leads to the identification and conviction of the person(s) responsible.
The Fur-Bearers is a non-partisan, registered Canadian charity founded in 1953 to protect fur-bearing animals through conservation, advocacy, research, and education.
According to media reports, a resident discovered the black bear carcass near the Muskwa River Bridge south of Fort Nelson.
The black bear was in two pieces, sitting in the water along the shore, not far from the bridge itself. The BC Conservation Officer Service is investigating.
“We don’t yet know what happened to this bear, and that’s why information from the public matters,” says
Lesley Fox, Executive Director of The Fur-Bearers. “Someone may have seen or heard something that can help
investigators determine whether wildlife laws were broken. We hope this reward encourages them to come
forward.”
