A three-day enforcement operation in the Northern Rockies has resulted in dozens of tickets, vehicle inspections and several unsafe vehicles being removed from the road. Northern Rockies RCMP, with support from Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement (CVSE) and the B.C.
Conservation Officer Service, conducted “a coordinated enforcement initiative” from July 20 to 22, targeting a range of public safety and environmental concerns.
The operation focused on illegal vehicle modifications, mechanical issues, commercial and passenger vehicle compliance, fishing regulations, aquatic invasive species and off-road vehicle enforcement.
During the initiative, officers issued 45 violation tickets and completed 22 vehicle inspections. Five vehicles were immediately taken off the road after being deemed unsafe under B.C.’s Motor Vehicle Act.
RCMP said the enforcement efforts are aimed at keeping roads, waterways and recreational areas safe.
Police noted that unsafe vehicles and illegal modifications can create risks for drivers, passengers and other road users, while fishing, invasive species and off-road vehicle regulations help protect local ecosystems and outdoor spaces.
Northern Rockies RCMP thanked CVSE and the B.C. Conservation Officer Service for their assistance during the operation.
The detachment said additional coordinated enforcement initiatives are planned throughout the year.
