A veterinary clinic in Dawson Creek is receiving national recognition for its work in the Peace Region.

The Canadian Veterinary Medical Association’s (CVMA) Practice of the Year, is an award that highlights excellence in veterinary care and community service.

The clinic was recognized for its dedication to animal welfare and its high standard of care for both pets and livestock. The service is key for a region that relies heavily on agriculture and rural communities.

The award is presented annually to a veterinary practice that demonstrates outstanding achievement in its community. Criteria can include innovation in services, strong community involvement, and efforts to support staff well-being and sustainable practices.

The Dawson Creek clinic, which also serves parts of Alberta, was among those honoured at the 2026 CVMA Convention.

“We are incredibly honoured to receive this award. We are grateful to be able to serve the region” said staff at the clinic.

For residents in Northeast B.C., the recognition underscores the important role local veterinary services play, not only for household pets, but for livestock operations across the Peace Region.
