A man with a violent criminal history, granted bail after being charged in an alleged stabbing on Monday.

Brandon Badger faces three charges, including assault with a weapon, after an incident around 7 a.m. in Dawson Creek.

Police were called to the 9300 block of 8th Street, where a neighbor reported someone had been stabbed and the suspect fled down an alley.

The victim was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

At the time, Badger was already wanted on a warrant and under conditions banning him from possessing weapons. He’s also facing two counts of failing to comply with probation orders.

Despite opposition from a special Crown Prosecutor, Judge Megan Olson released him with conditions and a $500 promise to appear.

One condition prohibits contact with certain family members, who expressed safety concerns. Badger has allegedly breached bail more than 10 times, including cutting off an ankle monitor the same day he was released last year.

The BC Prosecution Service is reviewing the decision to see if his bail can be revoked.

These latest allegations come just weeks after his release despite a lengthy record and repeated non-compliance with court orders.
