Prince George RCMP reported that the recent arrests are connected to two of three ongoing investigations.
Several suspects have been identified and taken into custody as Mounties look into a series of three arson fires in the city over the past month.
The first fire broke out around 9 a.m. on May 10 in the 1700 block of Third Avenue, causing only minor damage after it was quickly noticed and reported.
Investigators are still gathering details as they work to find a suspect in that case.
In the second case, surveillance footage helped investigators identify a suspect after a fire near the 1200 block of Fourth Avenue on May 18.
The suspect was arrested but later released pending a future court date.
Police said the third fire occurred just before 8:30 a.m. on May 27 near the 2100 block of Norwood Street and was quickly deemed suspicious.
Witnesses reported seeing three people running from the scene, leading officers to locate and arrest them nearby.
All three have since been released with court dates scheduled, according to the Mounties. “Currently, there’s no indication these fires are connected,” Cpl. Jennifer Cooper said in a Thursday news release, thanking those who provided surveillance footage and information.
RCMP said the investigations are still ongoing.
