Hudson’s Hope Health Centre on diversion for fourth straight day

Published on April 2, 2026 at 6:30 AM

Northern Health had promised that services at the Emergency Department at the Hudson’s Hope Health Centre were supposed to be available Monday morning.

The health authority then said, residents would have to wait until Tuesday. With emergency services still on diversion Wednesday, residents are being told the Health Centre will re-open Thursday at 8:30am

The diversion at Health Centre started on Friday as a result of an on-going staffing shortage.

The health authority announced the closure on social media and on its new Emergency Department Status webpage.

The Emergency Department has been closed for a total of 17 days since mid-February.

The community of Hudson’s Hope has been significantly impacted recently by Northern Health’s failure to solve a doctor and nursing shortage. The health authority refuses to say whether a shortage of nurses or doctors is to blame for the increasing number of diversions that are affecting the community in 2026.

The inability to attract enough new healthcare workers has plagued the region for the past five years.
