Understanding the 2026 NRRM Budget
Key Budget Facts for 2026
- 4% increase of organization’s cost over 2025 ($1,044,634) for municipal services, focused on maintaining service levels.
- An increase to Infrastructure Development Contribution Agreement (IDCA) funding to $6.69M annually until 2029.
- Allowance for Uncollectible Taxes: The $2.5M allowance alloted for 2025 has been reduced to $1.5 milion in the 2026 budget based on the estimated risk of being unable to collect unpaid industrial property taxes for values on Crown leases.
- Wildfire Risk Mitigation: $500,000 project added in 2025 has a carry forward amount of $495,500 for the 2026 budget, to reduce the risk of wildfire impacts to the community.
- Government Transfers Program: Council’s newly adopted Government Transfers program support community organizations in providing annual funding. A $1,106,803 budget has been established for this year.
