Mounties say they have arrested a man causing a disturbance at several locations in Grande Prairie.
Officers responded to reports of a man becoming aggressive and waving around what appeared to be a toy gun at Northwestern Polytechnic shortly after 1 p.m. Wednesday.
The same man was seen at several other locations across Grande Prairie, said police.
In a social media post Wednesday afternoon, the City of Grande Prairie said the museum and Ernie Radbourne Pavilion were on lockdown while RCMP responded to an “ongoing situation” in Muskoseepi Park.
CTV News Edmonton has reached out to confirm with the city if the two incidents were related.
RCMP have charged Horse Lake resident 27-year-old Hunter Phillip Joachim with;
- Pointing a firearm;
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose;
- Fail to comply with release conditions.
Joachim was taken before a Justice of the Peace and remanded into custody with his next court date set for March 30, 2026, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Grande Prairie.
