Emergency Warming Centre to stay open until Tuesday as Dawson Creek extends extreme weather response

The Emergency Warming Centre at the Nawican Friendship Centre will remain open until at least March 3rd. It was opened on February 16th due to frigid conditions.

The centre is located at 1401 102 Avenue in D.C. and will remain open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The shelter is activated when the forecast shows -10°C or colder for more than 24 hours.

Temperatures are expected to average -15 to -18 on Friday & Saturday. However, windchill values will make it feel closer to –30°C .

Environment Canada is also calling for low temperatures of –10 to -16C or colder until at least next Wednesday.
