A house fire early Sunday morning caused major damage to a mobile home in Pouce Coupe.
Fire crews arrived shortly after 9:00 a.m. in frigid conditions, with temperatures around -25°C and wind chills near -35°C, making the job even tougher.
The home was already engulfed in flames when they got there, prompting backup from the Tomslake Fire Department.
According to Fire Chief Blair Deveau, the mobile home was completely destroyed, displacing four residents.
Snow blocked the driveway, so a snowplow had to clear the way before crews could get in. Sixteen firefighters worked for nearly 6.5 hours, using two engines, a tender, command units, and a warming bus provided by Tomslake.
Emergency Support Services stepped in to help those left without a home.
