A Dawson Creek man, well-known to police, is back in custody. Ben Touchette faces six new weapons-related charges.

Touchette was arrested by Dawson Creek RCMP on Saturday, though details surrounding the events leading to his recent charges remain unclear.

His charges include failing to comply with a release order condition prohibiting firearm possession and failing to comply with a release order condition prohibiting ammunition possession.

In September 2024, Mounties reported seizing four illegal firearms, over 20 other weapons, and more than 300 rounds of ammunition. Police also confiscated over 200 grams of suspected fentanyl and cocaine from a Pouce Coupe home, where Touchette was later arrested without incident.

In April 2024, Touchette was wanted for missing a court date while already facing charges of possessing ammunition while prohibited. He had been previously charged with an offense that barred him from possessing ammunition.

After a bail hearing on Monday afternoon, Touchette remains in police custody. His next bail hearing is scheduled for November 14.
