City officials are considering installing security camera at parks across Fort St. John, after more vandalism occurred in Kin Park over the weekend.

A baseball dugout and a garbage can were deliberately set on fire. It comes a week after a new washroom in the park was also set ablaze.

The washrooms and heaters at the pavilion at Kin Park were unavailable for about a week while repairs took place.

Ryan Harvey, the Communications Manager for the City of Fort St. John said there was also a rash of arsons at Kin Park this past spring.

City officials taking to social media saying, “the city has some big problems with behaviour that needs everyone’s attention.”

Residents are being asked to check phone or security cam footage. If you saw or know something about the arsons, you are being asked to contact the Fort St. John RCMP under file #2025-9396.

Officials are encouraging residents to use the city’s ‘Report a Problem’ form on the website or Waste Wise app to report damages on city property.
