CHETWYND, B.C. — RCMP are renewing their call for help from the public in locating a man and his dog, a year after they disappeared.
In a news release issued Wednesday (Oct. 15), Chetwynd RCMP reported that no new information has surfaced regarding the disappearance or whereabouts of James Barnes.
The 28-year-old was reported missing to Fort St. John RCMP on Oct. 18, 2024, after failing to return home from a hunting trip earlier that day.
Chetwynd RCMP became involved as it was believed Barnes may have been in the area.
Barnes left home in his grey Chevrolet pickup truck with his golden retriever, Murphy. While the truck was later found, there has been no sign of Barnes or his dog.
Barnes is described as being 5’11” tall, weighing 201 lbs, with brown hair, brown eyes, and a prominent moustache.
Anyone who saw Barnes, his dog, or his truck on Oct. 18 in the Groundbirch area near Road 269, between Highway 97S and Groundbirch Forest Service Road, is asked to contact Chetwynd RCMP at 250-788-9221.
