The BC Wildfire Service has rescinded the Category 1 campfire ban that was in place for Northeast BC.
Effective at 12 p.m. (noon) PDT on Wednesday, October 01, the Category 1 campfire prohibition is rescinded for the Fort St. John Fire Zone, Dawson Creek Fire Zone, and Fort Nelson Fire Zone (Peace Forest District and Fort Nelson Forest District).
Category 1 campfires will be permitted across the Prince George Fire Centre.
The prohibition on Category 2 and Category 3 open fire will stay in place for Fort St. John Fire Zone, Dawson Creek Fire Zone and Fort Nelson Fire Zone (Peace Forest District and Fort Nelson Forest District).
The following activities and use of the following equipment, materials and substances are prohibited in the Fort St. John, Dawson Creek and Fort Nelson Fire Zones:
- Fireworks, including firecrackers
- Sky Lanterns
- Burn Barrels or Burn Cages of any size or description
- Binary exploding targets
Prohibitions apply to all public and private lands unless otherwise specified (e.g. in an enactment or local government bylaw). Please check with your local authorities before lighting any fire.
