Road Rage incident results in charges...

A weekend road rage incident near Fort St John resulted in four arrests, a search warrant, and the seizure of firearms, ammunition, cash and drugs.

On August 31, 2025, at 10:54 am, Fort St John RCMP officers were dispatched to a report that a male had pointed a firearm at another following a road rage incident near Baldonnel Road and HWY 97 in Baldonnel, BC.

At 11:04 am, Frontline RCMP officers located the suspect vehicle in Taylor, BC; A high-risk-takedown ensued. Four individuals, all known to police, were taken into custody and the vehicle was seized for a search warrant after a carbine rifle was located inside of it.

A search warrant was executed on the vehicle resulting in the seizure of the carbine rifle, a handgun, ammunition, cash and drugs.

Following the incident, 35-year-old Travis Dion Sharyk was charged with Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, Occupying a Vehicle Knowing there was a Restricted Firearm in it, Unsafe Storage of a Firearm, Failure to Comply with a Probation Order, Possession of a Weapon Contrary to an Order, and Possession of Ammunition Contrary to an Order; Sharyk has been remanded into custody until his next court appearance on September 9, 2025.

40-year-old Jolene Christine Wilders has also been charged with Occupying a Vehicle Knowing there was a Restricted Firearm in it, Unsafe Storage of a Firearm, and Failure to Comply with a Release Order; After being held for court, Wilders was released on a new Release Order with a court date of September 29, 2025.

The other two individuals who were arrested, 32-year-old and 37-year-old females, were released on Undertaking’s with conditions and court dates.

“This incident escalated rapidly and posed a significant risk to everyone in the area. Thanks to the public’s timely report, RCMP members were able to locate the suspect vehicle within 10 minutes and apprehend all the involved parties without incident”, said Constable Christiaan Dreyer, Media Relations Officer with the Fort St John RCMP.
